Pupils across the school work extremely well collaboratively to resolve problems, think logically and carry out research.
ISI Inspection Report, June 2014
Mead pupils are prepared for both the Kent Selection Tests (11+) and Entrance exams to a range of Independent Schools. Excellent results are achieved through thorough and personalised teaching, the streaming of all Maths and some English lessons throughout Key Stage 2 and confident consolidation of exam practice and technique.
The school works very closely with parents to ensure that each child, as far as is reasonably possible, transfers to the best school for them in which to thrive as an individual. Pupils are assessed regularly throughout their time at The Mead and results are thoroughly analysed and tracked before being reported to parents and discussed during termly parent consultations. In this way parents are kept fully informed of their child’s progress, strengths and areas for improvement as they progress through the school and can therefore make an informed decision regarding future secondary schools.
We are justifiably enormously proud of our academic record. We work hard to ensure that standards are high at school, and view all of our leavers as successful students, whatever their destination.
In 2017 we were able to send pupils to Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Girls, Tunbridge Wells Boys Grammar School, Judd, Skinners School, Weald of Kent Grammar, Kent College, Rosehill, Claremont School, Ardingly College, Bethany, Beacon, Bennett Memorial and St Martins.
We have been delighted by the high level of children who leave The Mead having successfully gained a scholarship to their next school. In the past five years we have seen our pupils achieve scholarships in a range of academic and arts disciplines to ArdinglyCollege, Bethany, Rosehill, Sevenoaks School, Worth Abbey, Mayfield, Claremont School and Beechwood.
