Tue 16th Jul 2019 : Reflection & Fun as Summer Term Draws to a Close
We've had a wonderful couple of days to round off our summer term here at The Mead.
The whole school enjoyed our teddy bear's picnic in the sunshine on the astro yesterday. The children brought their favourite teddy in to school to share a delicious lunch provided by Anita and the kitchen team. Even Year 6s aren't too grown up for a teddy bear's picnic!
The fun continued for a special charity fundraiser in aid of Hospice in The Weald. With games and stalls including bobbing for apples, hook-a-duck, hoopla and most popular of all - 'soak a teacher with a sponge' (well done Mr Webster & Miss Peace for stepping up to this soggy challenge!), the children had a fantastic time whilst raising funds for the local charity.
The staff were then challenged to a fast-paced and competitive netball game against our Year 5 & 6 netballers. The pupils gave the staff a real run for their money but the staff team won by a narrow margin!
On a more reflective note our Year 6 Leavers' Service at King Charles the Martyr Church this morning was very touching with wonderful songs and performances and the Year 6 pupils describing their fondest memories of their time at The Mead and what they'll most miss about the school (we loved the rap singing the praises of the kitchen team and the very lovely poem describing how fantastic the Year 6s thought all the Mead staff are).
We wish our Year 6s, all of whom are excellent ambassadors for the school and wonderful examples of what a true Meadite should be, the very best of luck as the next exciting chapter of their lives begins.
