Tue 7th May 2019 : Amazing Places of Worship Projects
As promised here are some photos of a selection of the amazing Places of Worship project models our Year 5 pupils have designed and built.
As part of their studies and exploration of the six main faiths for Religious Studies, Year 5 were set the task to design and create their own model of a holy building - from chapels, to mosques, to temples.
To aid their research the year group visited three different places of worship last term: Canterbury Cathedral, King Charles the Martyr Church and the Pantiles Baptist Church.
On their visits the children paid particular attention to the architecture and the artefacts of these buildings, took part in activities and asked lots of questions, giving them a good appreciation of the structures of the inside and outside of places of worship.
Using this information, along with their own research, the children set to work designing and building their own models of places of worship over the Easter holidays. They were allowed to use a variety of materials and could base their models upon local, national and international buildings.
We have been blown away by the excellent standard of the creativity, design and construction of the pupil's models.
A selection of the models are now on display in our front reception and will be rotated weekly - do come and see the amazing finished results for yourself!
