Tue 2nd Apr 2019 : Architectural Inspiration for RE Project
Year 5 pupils have been immersing themselves in research on the artefacts and architecture of different places of worship.
As part of their studies and exploration of the six main faiths for Religious Studies, one of their projects will be to design and create their own model of a holy building - from chapels to mosques to temples.
To aid their research into what religious structures actually look like the year group has visited three different places of worship over the past term - Canterbury Cathedral, King Charles the Martyr Church and the Pantiles Baptist Church.
On their visits the children paid particular attention to the architecture and the artefacts of these buildings, took part in activities and asked lots of questions. They now have a really good appreciation of the structures of the inside and outside of places of worship.
Using this information, along with their own research, the children will be setting to work designing and building their own models of places of worship over the Easter holidays. They are allowed to use a variety of materials and can base their models upon local, national and international buildings.
We can't wait to see their creations after the holidays.
