Thu 7th Feb 2019 : Deforestation Debate for Year 2
Year 2 have been continuing their resarch into the world's rainforests for this term's topic and have been learning about some important issues affecting these fragile ecosystems.
They've been finding out about deforestation of these habitats and the implications this can have on the plantlife, wildlife and local communities.
After preparing all week Year 2 held a debate on deforestation today. Working in groups, some children posed as loggers and cattle farmers and were 'for' deforestation and the others were Amazonian tribes and conservationists who were 'against'.
Mr Webster came to listen to their debate and decided that the 'against' groups had a stonger argument, but that all groups did a great job of arguing their points. They all shook hands afterwards and went off for a nice lunch!
