Thu 7th Jun 2018 : Busy Week of Outdoor Learning for Kindergarten
Kindergarten have had a busy and productive first week back after half term.
Continuing their focus on learning outdoors they have been measuring the progress of the potatoes and peas they planted earlier this term. Using measuring sticks and writing down how tall the plants were was an excellent exercise in mark-making and number skills.
The green-fingered children were really impressed with how much some of the plants had grown and very pleased to see that their tender-loving-care is paying off.
The Kindergarteners have also been learning about weight and the language used around this concept.
To demonstrate the meaning of 'heavy' the children were set the task of pulling a tyre up as high as they could using a piece of rope. Working together as a team the children managed to lift the tyre all by themselves.
Mrs Ovenden said, "It was a great exercise and really gave the children an idea of the concept of weight as well as developing their gross motor skills. It was also great to see them working together so brilliantly as a team - they always support each other so well."
Well done team Kindergarten!
