Wed 6th Jun 2018 : Letter from Downing Street for Eco-Minded Meadite
One of our Year 4 pupils decided to get in touch with the Prime Minister as he was feeling so fed up at the amount of litter and pollution in the UK today.
The nine year old Meadite was inspired to write the letter to Theresa May when his teacher Mrs Lake suggested they write to someone important about something that could change the world as a homework activity over half term.
The Eco-minded pupil said he wanted to do this as he's concerned the world might not be "a nice place to live in a couple of hundred years".
He said "I think there needs to be less fishing nets in the sea, that wildlife needs to stop being destroyed and that our beaches and forests need to be cleaned up. I also think it's disgusting when you see people spitting their chewing gum out on the pavements".
Downing Street have written a personal letter back to our pupil thanking him for taking the time and trouble to share his thoughts about these "important matters" and said that his letter will be passed on to the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs.
"I was amazed they wrote back", the pupil said, "I didn't think it would be taken seriously".
This Mead pupil certainly has the 'Mindset of a Meadite' - displaying an abundance of compassion, curiosity and ambition. Well done to him - what an inspiration to us all to do our bit to help make the world a better place.
