Wed 1st Nov 2017 : Tasty Bonfire Treat for Kindy & Pre-Reception
With Bonfire and Guy Fawkes night this weekend, Kindergarten and Pre-Reception children had an exciting treat this week as they learnt how a bonfire is made and how to cook a tasty snack using the warmth created by the fire.
The children rolled up some newspaper for the bottom of the fire pit, then each placed a piece of kindling in the pit, before some larger logs were placed on top.
Jenny lit the fire and the children watched as the fire grew and the colours changed. Excited cries of "I love it!" and "I can see yellow, orange and black!" were heard.
When the fire had grown a little more the children were given a wooden skewer and marshmallow each and then were shown how to safely place their marshmallows at the edge of the flames to toast them. Each child went up to toast their marshmallow before enjoying their tasty treat.
